Cure Athletes Foot
Need to cure athletes foot? If you are constantly experiencing an itch in your feet followed by redness, it could be a sign of a fungal infection like athletes foot. You can cure athlete’s foot by using over the counter topical medication or natural remedies which are more effective than using ointments and creams.
Humid conditions are ideal for fungus growth. Do you wear running shoes or closed shoes too often? You may be susceptible to athlete’s foot and other fungal infections. Avoid wearing damp socks and shoes.
In humid climate, keep your feet dry and wear open shoes wherever possible.
Athlete’s foot is a contagious disease – coming in contact with those suffering from this problem or using contaminated belongings such as towels or shoes can put you at risk.
If left untreated, this fungal infection can spread to other parts of your body.
This should be the first step to cure athletes foot. Wash your feet with warm water and medicated soap. Dry thoroughly and apply a drying agent such as talcum powder. You can even dab some antiseptic on it.
Avoid Closed Shoes
Closed shoes such as the ones used for running or exercising should be avoided if you want to treat fungal infections. If you absolutely must wear them, make sure you wear clean socks and shoes.
Dilute one part white vinegar with four parts of water and soak your feet in this solution for ten minutes every day till the fungal infection heals. Remember to dry your feet thoroughly after this.
Anti Dandruff Shampoo
Shampoos like Head and Shoulders have anti fungal properties. Dilute one part shampoo with four parts water. Soak feet for ten minutes and dry thoroughly.
Garlic has anti fungal properties which can cure athlete’s foot. Crush a clove of garlic and mix it with a little olive oil so as to make a paste and apply it to the affected area.
Sprinkle baking soda in your shoes to absorb moisture and keep them dry.
When fungus is on your feet, it is most definitely on your shoes also. Keeping your shoes dry will stop athlete’s foot from recurring.
Wash your shoes thoroughly and set them out in the sun to dry. The sun’s rays can kill fungus and prevent it from coming back. As a double precaution, spray your shoes with anti fungal spray before using them.
Remember to keep following the remedies listed above for a couple of weeks after athlete’s foot has healed. This is to reduce the chances of another infection.
If you use the locker room at your gym often, carry towels, shower gel and flip flops from home to minimize the risk of catching an infection. Always make sure you are carrying fresh laundry, which has been washed and disinfected. You can disinfect your clothes by adding a few drops of antiseptic in the washing machine during the last cycle.
